Setting up POP3 and SMTP for Gmail

This tutorial guides you, how to use Gmail interface to send and receive emails using an email account you create in cPanel via POP3 or IMAP and SMTP.

You can use Gmail as an email client much like; Outlook, Mac Mail or Thunderbird.

Before you continue, please read below carefully.

NOTE: Gmail only allows you to set up your email with POP and not IMAP. This means that your email only gets downloaded, it doesn't get synced back to the server.

NOTE: Gmail only downloads emails from your Inbox. Emails in other folders, like Send and Drafts are not downloaded.

NOTE: By default, Gmail downloads the emails and then removes them from the server. We recommend that you check the option to leave a copy of the email on the server. That way you can still access your emails in Webmail.

NOTE: You will need your POP and SMTP settings to complete this tutorial. You can find here. Or find in cPanel or Webmail.

NOTE: If you previously created an email forwarder to your Gmail account, you will need to remove it. You can’t receive emails if there’s a forwarder in place.

NOTE: We recommend using the secure (SSL) settings. Using SSL email settings is more secure as it encrypts the data while in transit.
